(Double Bed Jersey – Overlock Stitching, 3 Yarns, Colored, Abstract Design – Circular Knit Machine)

Concept: Fluid Layers & Dimensional Abstraction

This project explores depth, layering, and movement using multi-yarn double-bed jersey on a circular knitting machine. Inspired by ocean currents, geological formations, and abstract expressionism, the fabric’s thickness and overlock detailing create a dynamic, layered effect.

Key Design Elements:

• Fabric Structure:

  • Double-bed jersey creates a denser, more structured fabric with enhanced elasticity.

  • Overlock stitching adds an organic, raw-edged texture, mimicking distorted landscapes and fluid motion.

• Yarn & Color Play:

  • Using three different yarns creates a layered, multi-textured look.

  • A deep, tonal blue palette with subtle shifts to reflect fluid transitions and abstract forms.

• Abstract Design:

  • Irregular, abstract wave-like patterns or gradient effects through Jacquard techniques or drop-stitch textures.

Application & Garment Direction:

• Structured, sculptural knitwear (oversized sweatshirts, layered outerwear, fitted knit jackets).

• Paneled knitwear with yarn blending for gradient effects.

• Experimental fabric manipulations like raised textures or cut-and-sew applications to create tactile contrasts.
